Wicklow Primary Health Care Centre in Wicklow Town was officially opened last week by Minister for State, Kathleen Lynch. The opening of the centre has been welcomed by local residents as it will provide much needed healthcare services and facilities. Minister Lynch said that the Centre is a great boost to the town and surrounding communities.
Wicklow Primary Health Care Centre is one of the largest primary care centres in the country providing 21st century healthcare services, delivered in a state of the art building with extensive facilities.
Fine Gael TD for Wicklow/East Carlow, Andrew Doyle was among those who welcomed the opening of the centre saying, “In addition to local GP services, the centre will also provide other specialist health care professionals, consultant services, full range of HSE services, health screening, consulting rooms, pharmacy and coffee shop, a one-stop shop for all healthcare needs. It is envisaged that other services will be added in the future and it is vital that Wicklow Primary Health Care Centre has adequate bus transport services to accommodate the number of patients attending the centre from Wicklow Town and the surrounding areas. I have been in correspondence with Bus Eireann regarding the provision of a bus stop at the new facility in order to make the facility fully accessible.”
Deputy Billy Timmins, Renua Ireland TD for Wicklow/East Carlow has also welcomed the Centre saying, “This is an excellent facility and follows on from the primary care centre in Newtown. It will provide a very welcome service in the greater Wicklow Town area as the population has increased dramatically over the last number of years. The building and the environs have been completed to a very high standard and provide a very impressive entrance on the Port Road into Wicklow Town. It is expected the centre in Carnew will be completed by the end of the year. Progress on the Primary Care Centre for Blessington is going very well and hopefully Primary Care Centre will come to fruition in Arklow and Baltinglass in the not too distant future. Renua Ireland is committed to provide health care facilities in the community and the best way to do this is through the Primary Care Centre model and the provision of services at a local level.”
