Student Enterprise Show
Secondary school students from all over County Carlow descended on Visual for this year’s Student Enterprise Show hosted by Carlow County Council’s Local Enterprise Office.
The show, now in its 5th year, aims to encourage students to participate in the Student Enterprise Programme, which is a National Programme run by the Network of Local Enterprise Offices.
Joining the crew from the Local Enterprise Office was Apprentice participant, former broadcast journalist, PR lecturer and CEO and Tedx speaker, Joanne Sweeney Burke. She said: ‘Our life is a well and every day is an opportunity day and hope is the driving force that will bring opportunity your way. You just have to keep digging.’
Looking ahead to County Final
Anna Byrne, Senior Enterprise Development Officer with Carlow County Council’s Local Enterprise Office, said: ‘in our delivery of the programme we hope that this experience of taking part in a real business will encourage more students to consider entrepreneurship as a career in the future.
‘The students learn really practical life skills in this process like sales, marketing and presentation skills and we look forward to seeing the fantastic ideas on display as part of the County Final,’ she added.
Bernie O’Brien, Director of Services with Carlow County Council, also spoke of the aims and benefits of the event, judging it very successful.
