The Barracuda welcomed over  100 former pupils from Presentation College Bray last Friday night as they gathered for the annual Past Pupils President’s dinner. It was a special evening for sport as four junior cup winning teams  reunited – 1975, 1985, 1988 and 1990.

On the night, Brian Quigley took over the role of President of the Past Pupils Union.

The guest speaker on the night was Philip ‘Goose’ Doyle, who was the Grand Slam winning coach of the Ireland’s women’s rugby team and has now taken up the position as coach of the Pres Bray junior cup team.

Legendary coach Simon Doyle of Jim Doyle’s flew home from Germany for the occasion and spoke on the night. Simon was coach of the 85, 88 and 90 junior cup teams along with Jimmy Canice who was also in attendance.

International cricket player Ed Joyce was named as Pres Sportsman of the Year. Ed has played test cricket and in the Ashes for England having gone to to England to play in his teens. He has also played for Ireland in the World Cup. Unfortunately, Ed was unable to attend the dinner but sent a video message while his brother Johnny collected the award on his behalf.

The Pres Man of the Year award went to award winning film director and author Simon Fitzmaurice. Simon, who has motor neurone disease, sent a video message electronically recorded using retina recognition software.
