Shoppers in Wicklow Town have been urged to ditch Dundrum in favour of their local shops. “Wicklow Chamber has been working very hard to establish Wicklow as a destination Town – the best place to live, to work and to play,” says Wicklow Chamber President Josh McKenna. “So the next time you’re thinking about heading off to Dundrum or wherever, give Wicklow another thought, you might just be pleasantly surprised.”

The next time you’re thinking of heading to Dundrum for a spot of shopping, why don’t you head down to Wicklow Town instead? If you visit Wicklow Town Main Street today, you will find a cheerful town on its way to recovery following a tough couple of years. New shops are opening their doors alongside an attractive selection of pubs, cafés and restaurant.

“Wicklow Chamber has been working very hard to establish Wicklow as a destination town – the best place to live, to work and to play,” says Wicklow Chamber President Josh McKenna. “Our main streets are the backbone of our communities and a healthy main street means a healthy community.”

Over the past four years, the Chamber has voluntarily run events such as Sailfest, Taste of Wicklow, Santa Parade and Christmas Lights and many more. These events have attracted over 65,000 people to the town and helped to boost the local economy.

More recently, Wicklow Chamber, alongside Minister of State Simon Harris, secured a significant commitment from the Courts Services to redevelop and reopen Wicklow Town Courthouse. Take a stroll through Wicklow Town, see the changes for yourself and you will be in for a pleasant surprise.
