The Irish Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day raises a whopping €3696.11 in Redcross, for vital cancer services and research.

The Irish Cancer Society’s 29th Daffodil Day, which is kindly supported by Dell took place on Friday 11th March. On Saturday 12th March, people from all over Redcross and the wider community got involved in what has become an annual coffee morning in Muriel Williams home. Mrs. Williams and her family went above and beyond, fundraising for Daffodil Day 2016 and the Society wish to thank and commend Muriel and the community of Redcross.

Over 40,000 people are now diagnosed with Cancer in Ireland every year. Daffodil Day supports the Irish Cancer Society’s free services for cancer patients and their families, as well as funding life-saving cancer research.

Emma Hayden, Community fundraiser for Leinster South, said: “Muriel, her family and her friends in Redcross have played a central role in supporting people in Wicklow and across the country affected by cancer. As incidence increases, so too does the demand on our free cancer services. However, as a result of the generous and loyal communities like Redcross, Daffodil Day will make a huge difference to the lives of cancer patients in Ireland. I would like to extend a huge thank you to Muriel, who has done a fantastic job.”

Below are just some of the services the Irish Cancer Society provided in Wicklow in 2015, which Daffodil Day supports:

  • In 2015, there were 70 calls from Wicklow to the Cancer Nurseline 1800 200 700
