The Courts Service has stated it is their intention to improve Arklow Courthouse following receipt of a report by Wicklow County Council. In a letter to Minister for Health Simon Harris, the Service clarified that after a meeting last October between the two bodies., it was agreed that the Council would cost the proposed improvements. A contractor was appointed in April to conduct an examination of the building. The report is awaited by the Courts Service and depending on content and the budgetary capacity of the Courts Service, improvements will be forthcoming.
Commenting on the project Minister Harris stated, ‘“I hope that Wicklow County Council will soon provide this report on proposed works, so that the Courts Service can analyse whether these much-needed improvements can be made. I very much hope that this landmark building will undergo the works required for such an important facility in the community.”
