Carlow Town dominates Carlow Business Awards
All the winners in this year’s Carlow Business Awards, organised by County Carlow Chamber of Commerce in association with Bank of Ireland, were announced last Thursday night at a gala ceremony held at the Visual Centre for Contemporary Art.
The Carlow Business Awards are meant to celebrate the achievements of local businesses throughout the year. Leading businesses are acknowledged for innovation in business, best practice, enterprise and overall business success.
Burnside Autocyl Ltd., a hydraulic cylinder manufacturer based in the industrial estate on the Bunclody road in Tullow, was honoured with the overall Carlow Business of the Year Award.
Other winners were: Clasghanny House (Best Eating Establishment), Carpe Diem (Best Licensed Premises), Eist Cancer Support Centre (Community Award), Fusion Fitness (Best Start-Up/Emerging Business), Autolaunch Ltd. (Exporter of the Year), Seerys Heaterfield Ltd. (Food & Beverage Producers Award), Talbot Hotel (Best Place to Work Award), Detail Menswear (Retailer of the Year), Lilly’s Cake Boutique (Best New Retailer), Delta Sensory Gardens (Tourism Award), Wise Eyes Creative (B2B Award), and Arboretum Home and Garden Heaven (Venue of the Year).
The Carlow Business Awards title of Best Presented Premises/Shop Front went to three winners: Fussy Galore of Carlow Town, An Siopa Glas of St Mullins, and Osborne’s Bar and Lounge, in Tullow.
As announced in advance of awards night, the Carlow Ambassador of the Year award went to rugby star Sean O’Brien, the Lifetime Achievement Award went to Anthony Dooley of Dooley Motors, and the ‘Spirit of Carlow’ award went to the ‘Darkness Into Light’ Walk. Employee of the Year went to Sinead Marlborough.
Chamber of Commerce President, Derek Shannon, remarked how interest in the awards scheme continues to grow each year, as evidenced by how 2016 had a record number of both nominations and entries.
